Romancing the Midwest Book Fair exists to celebrate romance literature in all its forms by creating an inclusive, welcoming space where authors, readers, and small businesses connect. Our mission is to uplift diverse voices, foster meaningful community, and provide a safe, joyful environment that honors love stories across all identities, genres, and experiences.
Code of Conduct
Romancing the Midwest Book Fair is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all attendees, authors, vendors, volunteers, staff, and guests.
By participating in this event, all individuals agree to uphold the following standards:

Harassment, discrimination, or exclusionary behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.
Expected Behavior
All participants are expected to:
Treat others with respect, kindness, and professionalism
Honor personal boundaries and consent
Engage in open, inclusive, and constructive communication
Follow all event rules, venue policies, and staff directions
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are prohibited:
Harassment, intimidation, or bullying (verbal, physical, or written)
Discrimination based on identity or background
Unwelcome sexual attention or inappropriate conduct
Hate speech or derogatory language
Disruptive behavior that interferes with the event experience
Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern
Enforcement
Event organizers reserve the right to take immediate action in response to violations of this Code of Conduct, including:
Verbal warnings
Removal from the event without refund
Revocation of vendor or author privileges
Banning from future events
Decisions made by event staff are final and are intended to protect the safety and well-being of all participants.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to an event organizer or staff member immediately. All reports will be taken seriously and handled with discretion.
